Chief Fuqua is credentialed to instruct resident and off campus courses for the National Fire Academy and also is an Adjunct Instructor for the Virginia Department of Fire Programs. Tommy is an adjunct faculty member for Virginia Western Community College in the Fire Science degree program.

Tommy teaches numerous resident training courses at the National Fire Academy to include:Training Program Management, Fire Service Course Design, Training Operations in Small Departments, & Executive Analysis of Community Risk Reduction

Tommy teaches Virginia Department of Fire Programs courses in NFPA Fire Officer 1-2-3-4, Fire Instructor 1 & 2, and NFA Leadership 1-2-3.
